Hook and Snare!

Come with me as we explore what life was like in the 1700s in Wexford, a wild time and place with danger around every corner! Rebels hiding in the woodlands, Redcoats marching the streets, Highwaymen terrorising the roads and the coast “infested” with Pirates! We’ll visit the sites along the way as you discover another side to Irelands history!

The Story Begins .....

All Aboard!

As we journey towards New Ross, you’ll hear the stories of some of the characters and events that happened here, the Fairs, the Stickfighting and the scoundrels that made their living on the Quays. You’ll climb aboard the SS Dunbrody and discover what life was like for those heading to the New World! You’ll hear how certain events and the laws enacted afterwards led to the Great Potato Famine of the 1800s before we leave you’ll hear the story of the earl of Sandwich, perhaps the most famous ship to be scuppered on the rocks in these parts

intoA Secret Garden

Tintern Abbey has a wonderfully romantic story associated with it, and sitting under the trees overlooking the ruins is the perfect place to hear it. A brave Knight, having seen the worst of war for years, finally marries the woman of his dreams, but is he about to lose her forever?

Before we leave, we will take a gentle walk through the woodlands, dotted with pretty wildflowers during the summer months. Right at the end of the path is a high red brick wall with a doorway. Pass inside and you are confronted with a blaze of colour and sweet scents. This is Irelands oldest walled garden built around 1720 it is believed and the perfect place to hear another story and sample some of the fruit growing on the trees!

Irelands Most Haunted House!

As we arrive at Loftus Hall you may be surprised by the crowds, only open for a limited time during the summer months, it is one of the regions most popular attractions.

We, however,  will breeze past the queues however and you’ll get an exclusive VIP tour that gets you into to the rooms and floors the other visitors don’t get to see!

You’ll hear the legend that made the house so infamous and maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones (Or should it be unlucky?) that finds their coat tales being pulled by an invisible hand

This tour was by far the best one of my trip. Lorraine was the absolute best and her stories were captivating! Because my friends were in Ireland in November and not much is open, Lorraine made us a special itinerary and was even able to get us into Loftus Hall which is usually closed that season! I’m looking forward to go back to Ireland and take another tour with Lorraine in the future! I would highly recommend booking a tour with Gallivanting Tours! Oh and they have the best treats for the car ride!
