The Flour, Feathers & Fruit Tour takes a look at Wexfords renowned Strawberry industry, visits an organic and free range farm and finishes with a look at our food heritage by visiting a Mill producing stoneground flour for over 180 years

Wheelocks Fruit Farm

Collecting you from your accommodation we will start off the day with an introduction to Margaret and Cyril Wheelock of Wheelock’s Berry Farm, you are taken on a tour of the farm. Each growhouse has a different variety of Strawberries along with rasberries, gooseberries and outside you’ll find pumpkins too!

As well as tasting as you go along, you’ll also get to “pick a punnet” a long held local summer tradition! Our Strawberries are regarding to be the best in Ireland, with a heritage that has its roots in WW2!

Our next stop is lunch. We visit the award winning Wilds of Enniscorthy for a delicious lunch made with local produce. The Wilds is a huge ambassador for local produce and uses as much organic and free range food as possible!

You’ll also get the chance to  browse their lovely little shop which has stocks fabulous art, jewelry and most importantly a selection of the local artisan chocolates, relishes and cordials!

Regan Organic & Free Range Farm.

Here you will be met by farmer Mary Regan for a tour of the farm. As you wander along the lanes to meet the pigs and cattle with happy hens and ducks running about, Mary will explain the difference free range farming makes to the animals health and happiness, and how this is passed on to us the consumer, better for the environment too!

Marys poultry is used by some of Irelands top hotels and cookery schools and is Regan farm is considered by many, to be one of the best farms in the country

Ballyminane Mill

Our last place is Ballyminane Watermill, one of the last in Ireland it is almost 200 years old and still milling stoneground flour using the same methods it always has.

John Murphy, the Miller, is the 3rd generation to take care of Ballyminane.

He will take you on a tour of the place, and show you how the Mill works, taking you through each stage from the Mill race dug out by hand to the rumble of the French Birr Stones until you are left holding freshly milled stoneground flour in your hand.
